SHU TINT YADANAR
Physiotherapist
BSc Physiotherapy (Hons)
Everyone is an old person in training. We just need to choose which kind of old person we want to be.
Meet Shu, a dedicated physiotherapist known for her passion in geriatric medicine and commitment to advancing patient care through education and innovation. Shu earned her Bachelor of Science with Honours in Physiotherapy from Trinity College Dublin in 2018, laying the foundation for a career marked by comprehensive clinical acumen and compassionate patient advocacy.
Shu's journey began at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, with a vast experience in many units, including the ICU wards, musculoskeletal outpatient clinic, post-surgical management amongst others. She was a senior physiotherapist in multiple specialized geriatric units including the acute frailty unit, geriatric monitoring unit, emergency department services, and the Center for Geriatric Medicine clinic. Her diverse experience has equipped her to manage complex geriatric conditions with a focus on optimizing mobility, independence, and quality of life in older persons.
Shu believes that proactive geriatric rehabilitation starts at a much younger age by the integration of nutrition, routine exercise and physical activity to prevent and prepare for the age-related health and mobility issues.
“Everyone is an old person in training. We just need to choose which kind of old person we want to be. I would like to be climbing up and then rolling down hills through green grass at the age of 70 or 80. And I have already started training my body for that.”
